African Tribal Art - Katanga cross currency, The Congo (Zaire)


This is a large “puddle cast” copper alloy cross, used as currency in the
Katanga region in what is now Zaire. These were called handa and were indicators of wealth, used as bride price, and traded for goods. This handsome cross measures 6.5” wide and 7.75” high and is mounted on a custom base. #1966  $350
