This powerful cassowary bone dagger is from the Abelam culture or their neighbors to the west in the Bongos area of Papua New Guinea. It stands 18" high and has two quills twine-lashed to the gnarled joint and sealed with a light gray clay. It was probably used in a yam shrine along with various other magical objects.
