This graphic nassa shell poli is a coveted form of bride price from
the remote Kabwum Valley in the Morobe Province of Papua New Guinea. The
nassa shells are attached by string onto a piece of burlap which is
backed with beaten bark cloth. There are green, blue and red pigments
and it measures 14" wide by 14" high. There is a piece of black velcro
on the back for easy hanging. Early 20th century.
