A large circular woven yam headdress from the Eastern Abelam, East Sepik Province, Papua New Guinea. This particular type is called a doa, and it is woven in a coiled manner with strips from the stem of the lygodium vine. It measures 19.5 high by 17.5 wide and is painted with local pink and white pigments. From the 1930s 1940s.  #2295  $500
